Specifics

Confidentiality & discretion are assured. I see individuals virtually from my home office in south Kitchener; I hope to return to at least a hybrid virtual/in-person model before the end of 2023 (see Contact page for address). Referrals are available for those seeking counselling services for couples, children and teens.

Sessions are 50-60 minutes, Wednesday-Thursday evenings at 5pm, 6:30pm, or 8pm; Tuesday evenings by special request only.

Fees:

  • Individuals: $145/hr + HST
  • Intake sessions: $75/hr + HST
  • Supervision & peer consultations: $100/hr + HST

If you require submit receipts for counselling to an insurance/employee benefit program for reimbursement, please check your benefits first to confirm your coverage; specifically, what service providers are covered, and to what annual maximum. Some providers will accept services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist, some will cover marriage or individual counselling with CRPO registration or an AAMFT membership; some will only cover licensed psychology/psychiatry or services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW).

Payment by e-transfer only.

Also, I require a minimum 24 hours’ notice for cancellations by phone or email, or you will be charged your full fee rate for the missed appointment. There is no cancellation fee applied if I must cancel the appointment, or if the cancellation is weather-driven.

If you are an active or retired first-responder or Canadian Armed Forces personnel with proof of ID, the rate for individual sessions is $10/session for the first six sessions (including intake), $15/session for the next six, subject to review beyond the 12th session. Please don’t let money be a thing that stops you from seeking help if you need it.

Eligible individuals in the Milton or west-end GTA interested in the 1st Responder package can now also see my colleague, Susan Tarshis, on a similar arrangement (fees may vary): http://www.susantarshis.ca/

    Hi Karen,

Just wondering if you have any availability for couple counselling in the evenings. Preferably 6:30 or later. Looking forward to hearing from you.
